gabrielshoek

We spent the last few days at Gabrielshoek Country Escape, between Lydenberg and Dullstroom. It's a lovely farm in a beautiful little valley, with lots of small streams, places to walk and explore, a few trout dams, and very friendly owners. A very relaxing way to end the week. I even managed to pick up a few of my favourite beers at Hops Hollow on the way there.

lakenvlei forest

Ansie and I decided to take a few days holiday before and after the South African orienteering championships this year. For our first stop, we spent a few days at Lakenvlei Forest Lodge, between Belfast and Dullstroom. This place is amazingly beautiful. Wooden chalets built inside a forest, huge lakes, and plenty of forest and open spaces. A really awesome venue!

I also ran a few orienteering sessions on some of my old maps from previous races, as training for the champs later in the week.
