beautifull homes

Just a quick one from my feeds this morning. From MoCo Loco, this lovely little Beach Chalet.

And then from inhabitat, this absolutely beautiful Barn (see also ARCHh Daily).

Things to dream about...

archdaily

I found Arch Daily via MoCo Loco. I don't know where they find all these amazing buildings. But I do recognise some of the houses, from other sites, and from some of my books...

ipad

I really wouldn't mind having one of these ipads. I can think of a few very nice locations where they would look absolutely stunning. And a quick currency conversion puts them at around 1.7 million rand, which is not completely over the top. Just a pity it's in New Zealand...

the attic

Found this on the cool hunter. Very nice indeed...

We've started looking at bathroom renovations for our home. Unfortunately the costs of doing anything "out of the ordinary" are absolutely astonishing! And we've got very limited space available, which certainly puts a bathroom like this out of reach.

grasshopper momo

I have been absolutely dreadfull at updating the blog during the past few weeks. I have just had too much work to do, so there was no time to search for great and amazing stuff.

I still don't have much time at the moment, but will try and make more of an effort again.

So, to start this of again, one of my favourite interests, prefab housing. Grasshopper MOMO (Modern Module House Concept) are designed by Swedish architect Thomas Lind. You can combine modules to create your own house. Very, very nice...

thecoolhunter

Mmmm, thecoolhunter has many, many pretty things to look at. Only go there when you have lots of time to browse, but when you do go, make sure to have a look at the travel section, and the design wine article.

And since we're now living in a "village" where every second person seems to surf, have a look at the article on surfing in Munich.

swissmiss and bblinks

swissmiss, a swiss designer gone nyc, has a lot of beautiful design stuff on her blog. There are some really usefull things, as well as a good dose of the "amazing but will never buy" type of items. Don't forget to have a look at the kitchen stuff...

And then there's bblinks. Also some very interesting things there, like the guilt trip cookie below, and the Ring House (Tokyo, Japan)

archidose

A Daily Dose of Architecture. There is just so much information, and so many beautiful things to see at archidose, it's difficult to know where to start. If you love architecture, then this site has it all. Besides the many, many posts, there's also a huge amount of links to blogs and other fabulous sites.

Felipe Assadi and Polished Francisca created this absolutely beautiful house in Rungue, Chile. The full article can be found here, and there is a english translation there somewhere (or get google toolbar, which can translate most languages).

design spotter

This weeks site is design spotter. Again, there is lots and lots to see, but I like the furniture, hotels and architecture the most.

Pictured below is a interior light, simple, and in my opinion, brilliant.

therme vals

We first saw the Therme Vals in an article in the Wallpaper magazine years ago. The spa is located in Switzerland, and is a absolutely beautiful building created by Peter Zumthor using natural stone from the area. Since then we've come across various articles and photos of the spa from time to time, and we've even seen a French tv documentary on the building while we where on our honeymoon in France. It's on our list of "places to see before we die".

moco loco - modern contemporary design

The MoCo Loco slogan says it all. As always I like the architecture section. But the site has lots of other nice stuff to look at, like the appliances and kitchens.

tommie wilhelmsen

Some more architecture today. Tommie Wilhelmsen is a norwegian architect from Stavanger who has done some absolutely beautiful homes, like this holiday cottage in Hardanger pictured below (if my translation is correct). The site is in norwegian, but the pictures are not!

zenkaya

New years resolution: (besides loosing some weight and getting fit) I'd like to start posting some interesting articles and sites here from time to time. It will hopefully give you all an insight into the things we enjoy.

So to start off the year, we'll stick to the whole house theme, since we've been house hunting for a few weeks now. Here is a South African company called ZenKaya, who build pre-fabricated designer homes. A picture's worth a thousand words...
