watching the sun rise and finding a mole

We watched the sun rise on the beach today, and on the way home, we found this beautiful brown mole in the middle of the road. Ansie moved him into the safety of the nature reserve.

Not quite sure I would call the mole "beautiful"!

But its always great to see any animal up close.

My girls currently love looking for deer tracks in the snow, to see if they came to visit the house.

As always, the photos just don't do it justice ;-) It was running around in circles so fast I couldn't get a focussed shot. Up close, the mole’s fur was soft and shiny, and a really velvet shade of brown, something completely different to anything I've seen before, so I guess the mole wasn’t beautiful, but it’s fur was.

Mmmm, I still envy your world, would really like to see it one day.

Alvin this mole is very beautiful! I see you are an avid reader. Some of the most beautifully written books I have ever read are called the Duncton Chronicals (Start with the first book which is Duncton Wood). author is William Horwood.

The Duncton Chronicals is an epic about moles, their quest etc... there are 4 books I think in the series and they are fabulous. Highly recommended! (This guy also wrote The Stoner Eagles... another awsome book)

Glad to have finally taken a look at your blog. It's great!

Thanks Carmen! I'm always looking for new books / authors. I've been digging into so many business and life topics these last few years, that I've forgotten to read for pleasure. It's all learn, learn, learn these days.

I've added them onto my book list...
