We're getting closer to the Western Cape Orienteering Championships, so I decided to stick to the brown course for training, even though it was a fairly hot day (I really suffer in the heat), and my fitness not being fantastic at the moment.
I made a few small mistakes, and one really bad route choice from no 4 to 5 (what was I thinking!), but I still think the overall orienteering was fairly simple, with most of the controls very close to the roads.
I had another wake-up call going up the hill from no 8 to 9, which I mostly walked. This is a hill that I used to run often in my training! And then I was very surprised to see that I had the best time on one of the more difficult controls going from no 9 to 10, by 46 seconds!
I felt really bad after the race. I can't say exactly "what" felt bad, I just felt sick, and I had a terrible sleep that night. I think I pushed a little too hard in the heat...
