This morning we got a call from friends here in the village, to let us know that more than 50 pilot whales had washed up on long beach, our local beach here in Kommetjie. We were on our way to a lunch appointment, but took a quick walk to the beach to have a look at the sad and unfortunate state of things... (here is a video clip)
And more people than I've ever seen on the beach.

Hulle is so klein, is dit babas. Laai bietjie fotos van Ansie van vooraf, ek sien haar net van agter af!
Nee, blykbaar is dit die spesifieke spesie. "Pilot whales", hulle word tussen 3m en 6m lank, en weeg n' paar ton, hier is meer inligting oor hulle op wikipediaAnsie het my gewaarsku om nie fotos van haar op die blog te sit nie! Ek sal n' paar op Facebook laai...
