orienteering at tokai east

Today's score event at Tokai East was extremely hot, I had sweat pouring off me like water. The control options and routes where also pretty tricky, but fun, as always.

There weren't many people at the event, and some of the better runners made some big(ish) mistakes, which put me in a joint third position. But regardless of the result, I'm not happy with my race at all. My legs felt fine, but my head just wasn't in it. I wasn't concentrating or planning my routes, I made silly mistakes, in fact most of the race is just a blur. I don't think I was really there at all.

I guess that's the attraction of orienteering, you always know when you've had a good or bad race, and you can always improve. I've only had one race ever that's been near perfect. So it's always interesting. But today was just not for me...

I also forgot to take photos again, so only a map with route this time.

Mental preparation is just as important as physical conditioning!
