weekend in franchhoek - friday

We spent the weekend in Franchhoek, for Pete and Aileen's wedding on saturday. I took friday off and we drove the usual route on the R44, stopping at Mooiberg farm stall to stock up on wine, and Fairview to get some cheese.

We then had a look at the Afrikaanse Taal monument, which was surprisingly nice. I've always thought that it's just a big solid block of cement, but it's pretty cool really. The thing is hollow inside, and they have a little water feature which creates a nice echo and reflection. The views, and the gardens are also very nice.

They're busy renovating the restaurant, and it looks like it's going to be a really nice place once done.
