orienteering at nuweberg (long distance)

Really tough race today, but very enjoyable. I'm not at all fit at the moment, and didn't think I'd finish today, but I'm very glad I pushed through and completed the race. The terrain is really great, nice and difficult orienteering, I really enjoyed it. It's just those big hills...

Anyway, I felt very comfortable with the map, almost always felt like I knew where I was, except for no 17 to 18. It took me 21 minutes! When I got to the second path, I was really tired, and I just couldn't work out were I was, so I decided to quit, and while running down the path to the start, I noticed a runner below me on the slope, took one look upwards, and knew where I was, so I committed to a finish. I hit another "wobble" going from no 19 to 20, I decided to go around the green, but ended up going through some of it, the going was very slow and steep, also took me 20 minutes! From there onwards I did quite a bit of walking.

The past two days were good, it was nice to see some people from Gauteng, like Albert, and I think I needed a good / fun race just to motivate me again. The focus will now be to put in more long runs, and hills, so I can get fit.
