I was all over the place in the event this evening, my map accuracy was absolutely terrible. I kept running past the controls, or stopping too early. And my right leg is still hurting a little from the long run last weekend. I really need more map practise...

Hi!
My name is Marina. I am Russian, but I live in Austria. I am orienteer since I am 10. This year (10.7-6.9), me and my husband Tim will be in Capetown (I do an internship, he works in the UCT). I look for some O-opportunities in Capetown. I found out that you are an orienteer in the UCT! Aren't you? Could you give me some tipps?
Thank you very much in advance!
Marina.
Hi Marina,
Yes, I am a orienteer in Cape Town, although not specifically at UCT. Unfortunately orienteering isn't very big in Cape Town, we don't have many training opportunities, but we do have about 1 or 2 events per month. The best place to find details for events is at http://www.penoc.org.za.
I’m not sure when you’ll be here in Cape Town? We’ve got an event this Sunday near Stellenbosch, about 30 minutes drive from Cape Town, and the Cape Championships are at the end of the month in a very beautiful area about 1 hours drive from Cape Town. I would be happy to give you and your husband a lift to the events, if you do not have transport.
You can contact me on race@complexmatter.com for more info, I might even be able to email you some maps and directions to areas where you can train.
Hope you enjoy your stay in Cape Town.
Alvin
