A huge fire broke out in the Cape Point nature reserve near Scarborough yesterday, and has burnt right through the night. It spread all the way to Ocean View, Misty Cliffs, Slangkop and "jumped" past Imhoff gift to start a small fire a few blocks from our house. The whole south was covered in smoke and ash.

We took a drive late yesterday evening and this morning, to see how bad it is. There were at least 4 homes burnt down in Scarborough, that we could see, and according to Volunteer Wildfire Services: "A total of 2 175ha of veld was burned (4 350 rugby fields)"

We didn't get any photo's of the fire, but the smoke was so thick it turned the sky red. Apparently, they suspect arson...
