I didn't finish today's course. There was a big climb from no 2 - 3, followed by a even bigger climb from no 5 - 6. When I reached the top of the hill (just before 6) I had a absolutely awesome view of the valley below, but I was pretty much done for at this point. I had a look at the rest of the course, and decided that my legs will never last for the long climbs ahead. So I skipped the next 10 long controls, and did the shorter (and I think trickier) controls from 17 onwards.
I'm quite happy with my race. I didn't make any huge errors, just a few small ones here and there. Mostly just a little off on my direction. I had lots of practise "reading" the contours, which I enjoyed.
The only other thing worth mentioning, happened just before no 23. I was walking / jogging up the path when a snake popped up and hissed at me, about 2m from the path. I know you're supposed to stand still when you see a snake, but who the hell can do that when a evil looking black snake is hissing at you. That was my intervals for the day...
PS. Total climb according to course description 410m, climb according to my watch 382m, and I skipped the biggest climbs!
