At first the name Gaylords, seemed a little strange for an Indian restaurant, and given Cape Town's reputation, a quick search on the web confirmed that it was in fact an Indian restaurant! Most of the reviews said the food was good, and it was. Some said the place was "unpretentious", I now know that "unpretentious" means 20 years old, and probably a little kitch, but with a very nice atmosphere.
We ordered the traditional chicken (similar to a Bhoona Gosht), which was very nice, and the vegetarian dish, which was a little hot for me, but still very nice. The menu has limited options, and the "special" dishes, like Chicken Tikka Masala, are only served on weekends.
The owner was very helpfull and friendly, and they were playing very old (20-30 years) music the whole night, which really suited the feel of the place, and was much nicer than the usual music played in traditional Indian restaurants...
